Calling The Doctor
To give you quicker access to a doctor, we use a telephone based appointment system where you will first talk to a doctor by phone on the day that you call or future date of your choice. During this call, the doctor may arrange an appointment for you at the surgery, however, the doctor may be able to resolve your health concern during the telephone call either by prescribing medication or giving appropriate advice.
The receptionist will ask you for a brief outline of the nature of your condition, you do not have to tell the receptionist if you do not wish to, but if you can this will assist the doctor greatly. If you need to speak to the doctor urgently if it is an emergency, tell the receptionist straightaway.
If you want us to call you between certain times, please tell the receptionist and where possible, we will arrange that.
Appointments with our Nursing team for procedures such as blood tests, dressings, injections and long term condition clinics e.g Asthma, Diabetes, COPD, etc. can be booked by contacting reception.
If you want to talk to a specific doctor, please tell the receptionist. Wherever possible, they will arrange it, but if the doctor of your choice is unavailable, you will be able to book a telephone consultation with one of our other doctors.
If you are already signed up for online services, please use Patient Access to book your telephone consultation. When using this method, you can select a doctor of your choice and a time/day convenient for you.
Test Results
Ask your doctor how long the result will take to come through and then either ring and speak to reception or call into the surgery. The receptionist will be able to give you a message from the doctor who has checked the result.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
Home Visits
If you require a home visit because your illness makes it impossible for you to attend surgery, please telephone reception on 01299 402157 as early as possible.
* Home visits are only available for patients who are house bound because of illness or disability *
Disabled Access
We have automated doors and ramp access to our reception area; there are consulting rooms on the ground floor and also a lift to the first floor should this be required.
If you require any additional help our reception staff will be pleased to help.
We also have a loop system for those with hearing problems.
