Our Clinics & Services


As well as providing traditional medical care we offer a wide range of additional services to help to keep you healthy.

Wyre Forest Health Partnership and its sites (Bewdley Medical Centre , Church Street Surgery, Hagley Surgery, Kidderminster Medical Centre, Stourport Health Centre and York House Medical Centre), does not endorse any private health care provider, which operates within or without of our buildings.  Patients are recommended to make their own enquiries as to the suitability of any private provider of health care which they might consider using.


Chronic Disease Management

A chronic disease is one that is on-going like diabetes or hypertension (high blood pressure). We offer comprehensive management of chronic disease based on the best available research evidence, and in accordance with NHS regulations and requirements.

In the case of some chronic diseases it is advisable to have regular monitoring checks. This may involve a full annual check with one of the specialist nurses. You will be invited to attend clinic on a regular basis (usually annually). If you feel that you are overdue a review please speak to a member of the reception staff.

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Heart failure
  • Hypertension ( high blood pressure)
  • Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)

Some other chronic diseases are more likely to be monitored in surgery with your doctor, for example

  • Epilepsy

Alcohol and Drug Counselling 

We work closely with Swanswell. If you would like help with alcohol or drug issues we can put you in touch with our alcohol counsellor and community drug worker or you can contact them directly on 0300 303 8200.



We run a Warfarin management clinics.


Blood Tests

We have daily appointments for blood tests at the surgery, often starting from 7am in the morning. Please book via reception.


Cervical Smear Appointments

This is available for all women between the ages of 25 and 64. You will be contacted by post when your test is due. You can book an appointment at a convenient time to you throughout the week via phone or online.


Child Immunisation Clinic

A comprehensive programme of child immunisation is offered from birth onwards. Your child will be offered all recommended immunisations. If you think he or she may have missed an immunisation please ask reception to check with one of the practice nurses so an immunisation appointment can be arranged.


Chlamydia Screening

Chlamydia testing is available in ALL sexual health venues as well as:

Contraception & Sexual Health Clinics

Alternate Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evenings. This clinic offers contraceptive options including “the pill”, implants, injections, coils and emergency contraception, and also advice regarding sexual health and pregnancy planning. It is run by  Dr Shand and Dr Elliott working alongside one of our practice nurses.



We have a practice counsellor and there is also a cognitive behavioural counsellor working from the practice. Please contact your doctor to access these services.


Flu Immunisation Clinics

These run every autumn/winter as soon as that year’s flu immunisations are available.

Even if you feel healthy, you should definitely consider having the free seasonal flu vaccination if you have:

  • a heart problem
  • a chest complaint or breathing difficulties, including bronchitis or emphysema
  • a kidney disease
  • lowered immunity due to disease or treatment (such as steroid medication or cancer treatment)
  • a liver disease
  • had a stroke or a transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • diabetes
  • neurological condition, for example multiple sclerosis (MS) or cerebral palsy
  • a problem with your spleen, for example sickle cell disease, or you have had your spleen removed.

You should also consider having the seasonal flu vaccination if you are:

  • aged 65 years or over
  • living in a residential or nursing home
  • the main carer of an older or disabled person
  • a frontline health or social care worker
  • pregnant


Health Checks

We run a clinic to provide one off health checks for patients between the ages of 40-74 years to check blood pressure, cholesterol, weight and other lifestyle issues. If you are eligible, the surgery will contact you.



We also provide clinics to do ECG’s, 24hr ECG’s etc. – please make an appointment if advised by your doctor.



We carry out antenatal care at the surgery and the midwife has a clinic at Kidderminster Hospital.  Please speak to Reception.


Minor Surgery and Joint Injections

We offer minor surgery for lumps and bumps that are causing you problems and offer a minor surgery and joint injection clinic.   Our receptionists will be able to book these for you if a doctor has suggested the procedure.


Nurses Room Appointments

For a wide range of conditions and problems including wound management, ear syringing, contraceptive advice, suture removal, general advice and review.


Private Services

We provide private medical services such as DVLA, taxi or foster/adoption medicals.



We provide a comprehensive range of travel vaccines and advice including antimalarials and yellow fever. This service is only for patients who are registered within the Wyre Forest Health Partnership and not for those not registered with us. Please contact Reception for advice.


Please download and complete the  Travel Risk Assessment Form and either drop off at Reception or email to bmcinfo@nhs.net. After you have completed and returned the form, Reception will book you in for a telphone consultation with the Travel Nurse who will assess your requirements and if necessary, an appointment will be made for you to have the vaccinations. 

Please submit your form to Reception no later than 3 weeks prior to your departure date; this is to allow enough time for the assessment to be conducted and vaccine(s) to be administered.

Other Services

A range of other services are run from our practice including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening, Physiotherapy, Health visitor for children under 5, Learning Disability checks etc.
